Cleaning Your Blinds

Improper maintenance on window blinds may result to dust and dirt accumulation, affecting its aesthetic appeal and threatening the health state of the dwellers as well. If you are planning to give your window blinds some grooming, but do not know where to start, the practical tips detailed here may keep you guided.

Remember that you would want to strip your window blinds from dust and bacteria careers while preserving original quality as much as possible. You should be careful with the products and methods that you use in cleaning up, taking care that they do not result to damages or harm the materials in the long run.

For cleaning convenience, you may have to remove the blinds from your windows. Place a towel in the bottom portion of a bathtub. After you have positioned the towel, pour in a moderate amount of dish soap and fill the tub half way. With slats up, put the blinds in the water. If you are worried because your blinds are too big to fit, you may do the cleaning portion by portion. You can wash the dirt off your blinds as though you are washing your clothes.

After covering all the slats, drain the water out while leaving the blinds behind. For the second time, fill the tub with the same amount of water so that you can rinse the blinds using the same swishing method used during the cleaning.

Carry the blinds sideways while taking the top and bottom frames. Positioning them this way for a few minutes will allow the water to drain into the tub. Make sure to get all the water off by shaking them moderately and wiping each slat with clean and dry cloth.
